As I odour map a wintry Montreal, I’m noticing a trend in the type of smells I come by, that of food and travel. I’ve been halfway around the world as smells in this cool city are reminding me of other places around the world I’ve travelled to.
The collection of food smells are exciting as well. Food is well celebrated here, enjoyed and loved over. Restaurants are aplenty, cafes aren’t hard to find and the city has little olfactory oases of cooking delights.

Great post, Liam! I’m thrilled MontrĂ©al provided you with many olfactive delights. I would love to hear more about your trip.
Some good smells that remind me of living in MontrĂ©al: Chanel Egoiste, a freshly opened bottle of Orangina, matzo meal, iron steam, St. Viateur sesame bagels, fresh dill…
Montreal is indeed proving to be a smelly city ;) I love that it’s winter especially, it makes the smells harder to come by, so there’s a great reward feeling when I “get one” hehe. I love your odour memories of the city too. Orangina reminds me so much of my early childhood days. I can’t get it back home! I bet it’s a summer Montreal thing too?
brilliant!
now… where was the pot again? *grin*
Haha, I’m sure if you’re friends with the right people, it’s not that hard to find ;)
