Summer has so many smells, memories and attachments to everyone. What isn’t to like about sun cream, ice cream and coconut creams!
At St Stephen’s Green park right in the centre of Dublin city centre, there are lots of familiar nature-like smells from trees, hedges, grass and ponds. And when people come to bathe and unwind, the place merges with bodily influences and human behaviour.

As I’ve already told you I love these things and I am still trying to figure out what tickles me so.
I think it is because it comes across as such a personal expression by you of certain moments in your life.
No pictures. A minimum of words. You use the language of scent to bring these moments in time to life. I don’t know you. I don’t know Dublin. But I have now spent some time with Liam on St Stephen’s Green and a good time was had by all.
Thanks for you really cool words mr!
I think you summed up my approach to Odour Maps, it’s a great way to share a moment in time with any one. It’ll never be possible to truly share a smell from afar, but language can sure help deliver it.
You should honestly start some in Hawaii, I’d LOVE to know what it’s like there :)
You see, my porridge is sweet and smells beautifully thanks to honey, cinnamon, raisins, almonds and different kinds of nuts and seeds :) I was inspired a few years ago by a certain… I-Know-Who, and since then I’ve been perfecting the taste (and smell) of my breakfast ;) But I totally understand it can be often very off-putting!
Yes, exploring the map has been very entertaining and educative! :)
Good to know you’ve mastered the art of porridge preparation ;) I imagine the smell of cinnamon and honey going so well with porridge! Yum yum
“pre-creamy, dusty and faintly sweet” hmmm I suppose my porridge smells sooo much better than that :P but seriously, I really enjoyed reading about your St. Stephen’s Green experience, great comments!!! ;-)
It’s weird because I can’t stomach porridge, in fact as it’s being prepared it makes me gag a little lol But I like the smell of the dry oats from the box.
Glad you enjoyed reading and exploring the map :) Thanks
